As a photographer immersed in an exotic foreign culture such as China's, it was inevitable that I would become captivated by the vastly different visuals of people, places, and things as I experienced them for the first time.

It is these elements of historic beauty and harmony, juxtaposed on occasion with the country's striking look to the future that I hope come across in my photos.

To me, the most facinating part of the project is the simple fact that, while I feel my images stand alone as 'conventional' photos, it wasn't until several years after my visit that I finally acquired the computer tools, technology, and knowledge to allow me to work with these images in more intensely creative ways, eventually leading to the photographic art that became the series...
