TECH INFO
THE TECHNICAL STUFF:
All of the images in Destination: China were created using the same process. Original color and black & white film negatives (yes, Steven actually shot in China using non-digital 35mm SLR equipment) were Pro Scanned onto Kodak Photo CD (PCD).

These PCD files become the source for editing the images on the computer.

Each image file is opened on the computer using Adobe Photoshop professional imaging software.

Photoshop's tools and filters allow Steven to change the appearance of an entire photograph, very precise sections of it, or anything in between.

Among the qualities and elements of an image that can easily be edited are contrast, brightness, and sharpness, as well as color attributes such as hue, saturation, and intensity.

Photo-illustration "effects" such as tone lines, color blends, digital noise patterns, and an almost endless array of other style presets can also be added to the image.

After finishing the edits and changes to the photo, a new digital file is created and saved.

To create the photographic prints for the gallery exhibition, these digital files are printed on an Epson Stylus Photo 2200 professional inkjet printer using a 7-color UltraChrome™ pigment ink system (with lightfast expectancy of up to 100 years) and Print Image Matching™ technology (P.I.M.) to assure colors that accurately reflect the original file.

To create a web site image, the digital image file's resolution is adjusted from 250 dpi (dots per inch) to 72 ppi (pixels per inch). The photoshop file is converted to a jpeg format and uploaded to the web site.
