Some of you know that one of my other artistic passions is stained glass. It's a wonderfully organic alternative to my technically-driven world of digital photography (although ironically, I do design my pieces and print my cartoons using photoshop on my computer. Oy! Go figure...).

And while it never seems I have enough free time to devote to something I enjoy so much, I'm always visualizing ideas, collecting images and making sketches for pieces I hope to create eventually.

This is my current project, a beautiful 12-panel waratah lampshade for my mom. It's elegantly simple, and the first piece I've chosen to do that isn't my own design. But how could I possibly improve on this classic design? The pic on the right is from the pattern book. On the left is my workspace, with a view of the full design cartoon and the jig I use for each individual panel. Look for more photos next issue!
