Now in its fifth season, Sell has yet to stray far from this successful game plan. And why should it? This past year the show was nominated for a Daytime Emmy (sadly, losing to that evil food wench, Paula Deen).
At first glance, Tanya Memme might strike you as someone chosen to host the show simply for her good looks and personable manner. Dig a little deeper, though, and you will uncover a talented and experienced actress and performer.
Born in a small town in Ontario, Canada, her journey has taken her south of the border to New York City and eventually over to Los Angeles. She is classically trained in acting, dance, and voice, and has racked up numerous film and network tv roles. A veteran entertainment reporter and tv talk show host (she's currently a correspondent for ET Canada), she recently recorded and released her own music CD and has a new book in the works as well. |

As if that weren't enough, in a rare break from her Sell duties, Tanya was in Montverde, Florida this spring shooting a low-budget independent feature film titled Terror Inside with actor Corey Feldman, her first lead movie role.
Whew! Let's all stop and take a deep breath...
Despite seeming artistically overqualified for a reality-based show like Sell, Tanya does have a pedigree in the building business. Her family runs a company in Canada specializing in custom homes and commercial developments. It's an irony that is not lost on her...

ABOUT THE PHOTOS: All the photos used here were originally shot for Lake & Sumter Style Magazine. I was on the set of Terror Inside for a good part of the final two days of shooting in Montverde, where I met and photographed Tanya. While I admit things were a bit rushed, I'm happy with the results, and one of the shots became the cover of the June issue (see page 24). |
