A photo from an ecotourism assignment I shot this summer for Akers Media Group has made its way onto the web site of client Visit Lake County Florida, and while I originally became aware of it several months ago, this is the first time I'm sharing the news here on my blog.Read More
Some sad celebrity news last week. Actor and musician - and long time teen heartthrob - David Cassidy died at age 67 from liver failure. You can read some of the highlights of his life and details of his passing here.
I was fortunate enough to meet and photograph Cassidy in Miami back in 1995, as he did publicity interviews for his performance in the touring company of the Broadway play Blood Brothers.
He was as nice in person as his on screen characters always were.Read More
One challenge I have creating all the pieces for South Beach POParazzi - my new gallery series and upcoming one-person show at the Leesburg Center for the Arts in February - is coming up with digital backgrounds to go with all the portraits.Read More
Outrageous English singer/songwriter Boy George lands on The Photo Asylum Throw Back Thursday radar today for one reason, and one reason only. I've decided to include my very provocative photo of him in my South Beach POParazzi gallery series and upcoming show at the Leesburg Center For The Arts in February.Read More
Last week was an absolute whirlwind. I was in Miami four days out of seven. My first visit in nearly three years.
Unfortunately, it also was - drive down Monday, drive back Tuesday, drive back down Saturday, drive back Sunday. Each one-way trip taking more than four hours. Over one thousand miles total. And that doesn't include the driving I did while I was down there!
There simply was no other schedule that allowed me to deliver my work to the Nude Night Miami gallery show, attend the event, and still take care of everything I had to do back home.
Needless to say, come Sunday night I was completely exhausted.
So, was it worth it?
Oh...hell yeah!Read More
Like many of you, I can clearly see chapters of my life that begin and end based on moving to a new town or city, or having close family members or friends who have done the same.
Today's Throw Back Thursday takes a quick look at what seems like another life for me - the fourteen years in the 1980s and 90s when I called South Florida home, including more than a decade running a commercial photo studio in Miami Beach, also know to the terminally hip as South Beach.Read More
With my upcoming one-person gallery show - South Beach POParazzi - opening at the Leesburg Center For The Arts in three months, choices need to be made as to which of the many celebrities I've photographed will be part of the series and exhibition.
Especially important are the first two or three pieces, which need to be finished ASAP to be used for publicity and marketing purposes in the months to come.
Looking over the entire list of names, I feel it makes perfect sense to select actress Elizabeth Taylor as a showcase piece to represent the entire series.Read More
As much as I love shooting editorial fashion with a bit of an edge or artistic style, truth is, both I and Orlando model Sarah Marie agreed we need commercial work in our books, and what could be more commercial than to put her in Victoria's Secret pajamas shot in the very recognizable visual style used by Target department stores?Read More
I'm both pleased and excited to announce, not only a new series of gallery images, titled South Beach POParazzi, but an upcoming One Person Show featuring the work at the nearby Leesburg Center for the Arts in February of 2018.Read More
Fashion test shoots should be as much about working outside of your comfort zone as they are just trying to make pretty pictures. My test earlier this month with Orlando model Sarah Marie Pitzer and an incredibly dedicated and hard-working team allowed me to do just that.Read More
