Some sad celebrity news last week. Actor and musician - and longtime teen heartthrob - David Cassidy died at age 67 from liver failure. You can read some of the highlights of his life and details of his passing here.
I was fortunate enough to meet and photograph Cassidy in Miami back in 1995, as he did publicity interviews for his performance in the touring company of the Broadway play Blood Brothers.
He was as nice in person as his on screen characters always were.
Cassidy should need no introduction to baby boomers, as he will always be best remembered for playing iconic Keith Partridge: the handsome, charming, and funny teen singer and guitarist from the early 1970s hit tv show, The Partridge Family.
For those of you under a certain age, The Partridge Family was loosely based on the real life rock/pop musical family, The Cowsills, who had several big radio hits around that time.
The show also starred Shirley Jones, Susan Dey, Danny Bonaduce, and Dave Madden.
What makes the timing of this news bittersweet for me is the simple fact that I recently made the decision to include the Cassidy photo as part of my new gallery series, South Beach Poparazzi.
I have never enjoyed the idea of having my work gain publicity or notoriety due to something bad happening to a subject. My celebrity photos are no exception. And I had no idea Cassidy had been in such poor health.
That being said, this particular image now has an added, final chapter in its story, and the conversation surrounding it will become slightly different.
And much sadder...
