A photo from an ecotourism assignment I shot this summer for Akers Media Group has made its way onto the web site of client Visit Lake County Florida, and while I originally became aware of the publication several months ago, this is the first time I'm sharing the news here on my blog.
I first mentioned being booked by Akers to shoot ecotourism back in June - you can read the original blog post here - and at the time, one condition of the assignment was keeping it on the down low.
Not what I was shooting, but who I was shooting it for.Eventually - once the advertising campaign was launched - it was announced the work was for Lake County, Florida, more specifically, the Office of Economic Development and Tourism.
Of the handful of subjects I photographed for Akers this summer, which included Disc Golf - blog post here - and Dragon Boat Racing - blog post here - they decided to use a shot of a couple antiquing.
Now, I'll leave it to the experts to decide whether antiquing qualifies as ecotourism or not.
Suffice to say, it was one of the local activities I was asked to shoot as part of the assignment, and I'm pretty sure it falls loosely under the umbrella of what Lake County feels ecotourism is all about - visitng an area and immersing yourself in both the natural settings and cultural resources a community has to offer.
I just wanted to include the county's new tourism slogan. Kinda catchy, ain't it? And clever...
The photo they used was shot back in June at one of my favorite places, the Old South Stained Glass and Antique Mall in nearby Eustis. My models were friends Janet Gamache and Brian Young.
You can read the original blog of that shoot here.
The larger the client or publication, the longer the wait can be to see my photos from an assignment actually published. In any case, I still get a kick when they finally surface.
